Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant Newark was the original location of the Iron Hill brand, opening in 1996 at 147 East Main Street in Newark, Delaware. The brewpub became known for brewing beer onsite and preparing scratch-made food in a comfortable, casual setting. Its founding marked the beginning of a brewery and restaurant concept that later expanded to locations across several states.

The beer program at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant Newark featured a broad selection of handcrafted beers, including lagers, pale ales, IPAs, stouts, Belgian-style ales, and seasonal specialties. Several beers from the Iron Hill brewing program earned major recognition, including Russian Imperial Stout, Lodestone Lager, The Cannibal, Raspberry Torte, and The Golden Child. The brewery’s award-winning beers helped establish its reputation within the American craft brewing industry.

Although Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant Newark was permanently closed in September 2025, its legacy remains important to Delaware’s craft brewing history. The original location helped establish Newark as a destination for locally brewed beer and scratch-made dining. The historic site is now being transformed into a new steakhouse concept, but the location remains closely associated with the beginnings of Iron Hill and its decades-long contribution to the regional beer scene.
