Brainy Borough Brewing

is a craft beer brand founded in 2017 by Metuchen, New Jersey, entrepreneur Joe Cascio. The concept grew from a group of local beer enthusiasts who wanted to strengthen the community’s craft-beer culture and create a destination connected to Metuchen’s distinctive personality. Rather than operating as a traditional production brewery, Brainy Borough developed its beers through collaborations with established New Jersey brewers. Its first taproom opened in November 2018 at 15 Station Place in Metuchen.

Brainy Borough Brewing has built a creative lineup that includes hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, lagers, amber ales, stouts, wheat beers, and specialty releases. Notable beers have included Hoplongata, an East Coast-style Hazy IPA with tropical fruit character, Jalabraiño, a pepper-conditioned IPA featuring fresh jalapeños, and 08840, a pineapple-conditioned American Blonde Lager. The brewery has also developed rotating taps and collaborative recipes with other New Jersey brewing partners.

The brand’s identity extends beyond beer, emphasizing community participation and experimentation. Its membership program has offered exclusive events, merchandise, growlers, and opportunities for members to participate in new brew initiatives. Brainy Borough Brewing represents Metuchen’s community-driven approach to craft beer, combining creative recipes, local collaboration, and a playful “smart beer” identity that makes its offerings distinctive within New Jersey’s craft-brewing scene.
