KelSo Beer Company

was a Brooklyn-based craft brewery founded in 2006 by Kelly and Sonya Taylor. The brewery built its identity around producing fresh, classic, and satisfying ales and lagers for the local craft-beer market. Its name, “KelSo,” comes from the founders’ names, reflecting the personal and independent character of the company. Over the years, KelSo became known within New York’s beer community for approachable beers that emphasized traditional brewing styles and drinkability.

KelSo Beer Company developed a varied portfolio that included lagers, pale ales, IPAs, brown ales, stouts, and seasonal specialties. Notable beers associated with the brewery included Industrial Pale Ale, Mosaic India Pale Ale, Nut Brown Lager, and 5 Napkin Saphire Lager. The brewery also participated in collaborations with other New York-area breweries, demonstrating its involvement in the broader Brooklyn craft-beer community.

KelSo Beer Company is now listed as no longer in business, making it a part of Brooklyn’s craft-brewing history rather than a current operating destination. Its legacy remains connected to the city’s independent brewing movement of the 2000s and its effort to bring fresh, locally oriented beer to New York drinkers. For enthusiasts exploring Brooklyn’s brewing history, KelSo Beer Company represents an interesting example of the smaller breweries that helped shape the borough’s modern craft-beer culture.
