Black Monk Brewery

is an independent craft brewery in Erie, Pennsylvania, established in March 2018 by co-owner and brewer Tom Morris and his partners. The brewery grew from Morris’s passion for Belgian-style beer, which developed through homebrewing and a desire to recreate the Belgian beers he had discovered while traveling. Today, Black Monk Brewery focuses on Belgian-inspired beers while also exploring brewing traditions from other parts of Europe and beyond.

Black Monk Brewery’s beer selection reflects its broad approach to brewing, with Belgian, British, Scottish, Irish, German, and IPA styles represented. The brewery has offered a rotating selection of up to 17 beers on tap, allowing visitors to sample everything from Belgian-style ales and tripels to darker beers and hop-forward IPAs. Guests can also purchase growlers and four-packs of 16-ounce cans to take home, while local wine, spirits, and cider provide additional choices.

Visitors can enjoy Black Monk Brewery at its Erie taproom on West 12th Street, where the relaxed atmosphere is designed around good beer and community. The brewery is dog-friendly and regularly hosts rotating food trucks, while guests may also bring their own food or arrange delivery from nearby establishments. A beer garden, live music, and even a golf simulator add variety to the experience. With its Belgian-inspired brewing philosophy, extensive rotating tap list, welcoming atmosphere, and community focus, Black Monk Brewery offers a distinctive craft beer destination in Erie.
