Duckhorn Vineyards

Founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, Duckhorn Vineyards is one of Napa Valley’s most influential wineries and is widely credited with helping establish Merlot as a premium varietal in the United States. Inspired by a trip to Bordeaux’s Right Bank regions of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, Dan Duckhorn became convinced that Napa Valley could produce world-class Merlot. At a time when most Napa wineries focused primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon, the Duckhorns took the bold step of building their winery around Merlot, a decision that would ultimately reshape the American wine landscape. portfolio has expanded to include Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and proprietary blends. The winery farms and sources fruit from several premium Napa Valley vineyard sites, including Three Palms Vineyard, one of the most celebrated Merlot vineyards in California. Careful vineyard management, site selection, and a commitment to balance and elegance have become hallmarks of the Duckhorn style. 0search15

Over the decades, Duckhorn evolved from a small family winery into one of North America’s premier luxury wine producers. The success of the original winery led to the creation of additional brands including Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Decoy, and Canvasback, forming what became The Duckhorn Portfolio. Despite significant growth and ownership changes, the winery has remained closely associated with its founders’ vision of producing exceptional Napa Valley wines. turn0news27
