Honig Vineyard & Winery Honig Vineyard & Winery is a family-owned Napa Valley winery renowned for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and longstanding commitment to sustainable winegrowing. Located in Rutherford, at the heart of Napa Valley, the winery traces its origins to 1964 when Louis Honig purchased a 68-acre ranch planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Although Louis initially sold grapes to neighboring wineries, he dreamed of one day producing wine under his own family label. After his passing, that vision was realized in 1980 when the Honig family produced a small batch of Sauvignon Blanc in the property's former tractor barn. The wine earned immediate recognition, inspiring the family to officially establish Honig Vineyard & Winery.

A major turning point came in 1984 when Louis’s grandson, Michael Honig, assumed leadership of the winery at just twenty-two years old. Under his guidance, Honig expanded from a modest family operation into one of Napa Valley’s most respected independent wineries. Cabernet Sauvignon was added to the portfolio in the late 1980s, complementing the Sauvignon Blanc that had become the winery’s signature wine. Today, Honig focuses primarily on these two Bordeaux varietals, believing that specialization allows for greater consistency and quality.

Sustainability is a defining part of Honig’s identity. The winery utilizes solar power, environmentally responsible farming practices, water conservation programs, wildlife habitats, and integrated vineyard management techniques. Its vineyards along the Napa River are carefully farmed to protect both the land and surrounding ecosystem.
