Founded by the Rocca family, Rocca Family Vineyards is a family-owned Napa Valley winery whose roots in the region stretch back nearly a century. The family’s Napa Valley story began in 1937 when Giovanni and Maria Rocca immigrated from Italy and settled in Yountville. Like many early Napa Valley families, they worked the land and established a deep connection to agriculture that would eventually lead to winegrowing. Over subsequent generations, the Rocca family became respected grape growers, cultivating vineyards throughout Napa Valley long before launching their own winery label. Their extensive farming experience laid the foundation for a winery centered on vineyard stewardship and family tradition.

The modern winery was established by Gene and Mary Rocca, who transformed decades of grape-growing expertise into a premium wine brand. After years of supplying fruit to some of Napa Valley’s most respected wineries, the family decided to showcase the quality of their vineyards through wines produced under their own name. This transition from growers to vintners allowed them to express the unique characteristics of their estate vineyards while maintaining complete control over quality from vine to bottle.

A defining characteristic of Rocca Family Vineyards is its focus on estate-grown fruit sourced from multiple Napa Valley appellations. The family farms vineyards in Yountville, Grigsby Hills, Atlas Peak, and the Carneros region, each offering distinct soils, elevations, and microclimates.
