Parry Cellars
is one of Napa Valley’s smallest and most exclusive family-owned wineries, recognized for its singular focus on estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and its dedication to handcrafted, limited-production winemaking. Founded by Stephen and Sue Parry, the winery was established after the couple acquired a small hillside property in the Calistoga area of Napa Valley and planted Cabernet Sauvignon vines with the goal of producing a wine that reflected the unique character of their land. Rather than expanding into multiple varietals or large-scale production, the Parrys chose to remain intentionally small, concentrating all of their efforts on a single wine crafted from their estate vineyard. This philosophy has helped Parry Cellars develop a reputation for quality, consistency, and authenticity among collectors and Napa Valley wine enthusiasts.
A defining characteristic of Parry Cellars is its remarkably small estate vineyard, planted entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard sits in an area influenced by volcanic soils and contains significant amounts of obsidian, a feature common to the nearby Glass Mountain region. The Parrys emphasize meticulous vineyard management, personally overseeing farming decisions such as pruning, fruit thinning, and canopy management. Since its inaugural vintage in 1999, the winery has worked with acclaimed winemaker Andy Schweiger, maintaining a consistent winemaking philosophy focused on expressing vineyard character rather than following trends. Annual production remains extremely limited, with only a few hundred cases produced each year, making the wines highly sought after by those who appreciate artisan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Beyond its wines, Parry Cellars reflects the passion and hands-on involvement of its founders. Stephen and Sue Parry have remained closely connected to every aspect of the winery, from vineyard stewardship to hospitality. Their commitment to sustainable vineyard practices and small-lot production has allowed them to preserve the intimate nature of the brand while consistently producing elegant, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. Whether enjoying a current release or an older vintage, wine lovers discover why Parry Cellars has earned recognition as one of Napa Valley’s hidden gems. Its dedication to family ownership, estate viticulture, and uncompromising quality continues to define the identity of Parry Cellars.
