Rocky Creek Cellars

is a family-operated boutique winery located along Highway 46 West near Templeton, California, in the renowned Paso Robles wine region. Founded in 1999 by John Somogyi Jr., the winery began as a family passion project and has grown into a respected small-production estate known for handcrafted wines and traditional winemaking practices. Today, John’s son Dusty Somogyi continues the family legacy, managing winemaking operations while maintaining the winery’s dedication to quality, authenticity, and vineyard expression.

Rocky Creek Cellars specializes in single-varietal wines created from carefully selected vineyard sources. The winery is recognized for bold, long-aged red wines, including Zinfandel, Syrah, and Pinot Noir, along with other limited-production selections. Grapes are sourced from distinctive areas such as the Templeton Gap and York Mountain, where unique soils and climate conditions help create wines with depth, balance, and character. Sustainable vineyard practices, dry farming, natural cover crops, and hand harvesting are central to maintaining exceptional grape quality.

The winery follows a traditional, minimal-intervention approach that includes hand punch downs, extended skin contact, careful barrel aging, and natural production methods. Many wines are bottled without fining or filtering, allowing the true personality of the grapes and vineyards to shine through. Visitors can enjoy tastings in the rustic tasting room while experiencing the warm family atmosphere and learning about the winery’s heritage. With its commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and authentic Paso Robles winemaking, Rocky Creek Cellars offers a memorable boutique wine experience.
