Silverpoint Cellars

Founded in 2008, Silverpoint Cellars is a boutique Napa Valley winery dedicated to producing small quantities of meticulously crafted wines that emphasize elegance, balance, and refinement. The winery was established with a clear vision: to focus on quality over quantity and create wines that reflect the same precision and artistry found in the centuries-old silverpoint drawing technique from which the winery takes its name. The founders chose “Silverpoint” as a symbol of their winemaking philosophy, inspired by the Renaissance art form used by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer, where subtlety, patience, and attention to detail were essential to creating enduring works of art.

From the beginning, Silverpoint Cellars embraced a small-production model. The winery’s inaugural release in 2008 consisted of just 56 cases of Chardonnay sourced from a single Sonoma Coast vineyard, now part of the Petaluma Gap AVA. The following year, production expanded modestly with the addition of a Napa Valley red wine crafted from a blend of four Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. These wines established the foundation of a portfolio focused on precision, complexity, and vineyard expression.

A defining characteristic of Silverpoint Cellars is its dedication to limited-production wines sourced from exceptional vineyard sites. The winery is particularly recognized for its Chardonnay from the Petaluma Gap and its Napa Valley Red Wine, which features Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the renowned Rutherford Bench. By concentrating on a small number of wines and maintaining restrained production levels, the winery is able to devote careful attention to every stage of the winemaking process, from vineyard selection and harvest decisions to aging and blending.
