Tognetti Family Winery

Founded by the Tognetti family, Tognetti Family Winery is a small, family-owned Napa Valley winery rooted in more than six decades of farming in the Carneros region. The family’s connection to the land began in 1964, when they established their agricultural operation in Napa Valley’s southern reaches. Initially farming orchards and later transitioning to vineyards, the Tognettis spent decades cultivating premium wine grapes before deciding to create wines under their own label. This long history of farming provided the foundation for a winery built on family tradition, patience, and a deep understanding of the Carneros terroir.

After more than thirty years as grape growers, the family took the next step into winemaking. Led by Robert Tognetti, the winery was officially established in the early 2010s, allowing the family to showcase fruit from vineyards they had carefully farmed for generations. Rather than pursuing large-scale production, the Tognettis embraced a boutique approach focused on quality, craftsmanship, and authentic vineyard expression.

A defining characteristic of Tognetti Family Winery is its commitment to estate-grown Chardonnay from Carneros. The cool-climate conditions of the Carneros appellation, influenced by breezes and fog from nearby San Pablo Bay, provide ideal growing conditions for Chardonnay. The family carefully hand-farms its vineyard, believing that exceptional wines begin with meticulous vineyard stewardship. This philosophy remains central to every bottle produced by the winery.

The winery initially produced limited quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon from a small family-owned vineyard in St. Helena, with annual production of only about 150 cases. Over time, however, the focus shifted toward sparkling wine production, with the winery continuing to develop a portfolio centered on elegant sparkling wines and Chardonnay that reflect the unique character of Carneros fruit.

Today, Tognetti Family Winery remains a true multigenerational family enterprise. With three generations involved in preserving the family’s farming legacy, the winery continues to produce handcrafted wines in extremely limited quantities. Through careful vineyard management, small-lot production, and a dedication to family tradition, Tognetti Family Winery represents the enduring spirit of Napa Valley’s family-owned wine culture.
