Black Dirt Distillery

offers a distinctive Hudson Valley spirits experience rooted in regional agriculture, local ingredients, and modern craft distilling. Formed in 2012 by Jason Grizzanti and Jeremy Kidde, the company expanded from their earlier work at Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery. A purpose-built facility opened in Pine Island in 2013, giving the team space to increase production of its bourbon, rye whiskey, and apple jack.

The distillery takes its name from the unusually dark, fertile soil found throughout the surrounding Black Dirt region. Local corn and apples play an important role in the spirits, helping connect each bottle to the farms and landscape of Orange County. Production combines carefully selected grains or fruit with controlled fermentation, distillation, barrel aging, and blending.

Visitors can sample Black Dirt Bourbon and Black Dirt Apple Jack through the tasting room at Warwick Valley Winery, where knowledgeable staff introduce the character and craftsmanship behind each spirit. Distillery tours may also provide a closer look at the equipment and production process. With its agricultural identity, award-winning products, and commitment to New York ingredients, Black Dirt Distillery offers a memorable destination for whiskey and craft-spirit enthusiasts.
