In 1985, the first Swedish Hill vintage was produced, yielding approximately 1,200 cases and marking the beginning of a successful family-operated wine business.

Dick and Cindy Peterson developed the winery while continuing their full-time careers, working evenings and weekends with a small team. Their commitment gradually transformed the modest operation into a recognized producer. Today, Swedish Hill produces more than 60,000 cases annually, demonstrating decades of experience and continued customer appreciation.

Their son, Dave Peterson, joined the business in 1996 after working as a viticulture extension specialist at Cornell University. With advanced education in viticulture, he brought valuable scientific knowledge and vineyard expertise to the family operation.
