Texas Hills Vineyard

offers a welcoming Hill Country wine experience shaped by Tuscan inspiration, Texas-grown grapes, and peaceful countryside surroundings. Kathy and Gary Gilstrap purchased land near Johnson City after recognizing similarities between the property and the Italian landscapes they admired during their travels. They planted the vineyard in 1995, helping establish a destination rooted in regional agriculture and European influence.

Located within the Texas Hill Country American Viticultural Area, the vineyard benefits from abundant sunshine, warm growing seasons, and soils suited to several grape varieties. The winery combines estate fruit with additional grapes sourced from selected Texas vineyards, allowing the team to create a varied collection of wines while maintaining a strong connection to the state’s wine industry.

Visitors can enjoy tastings in a relaxed setting while learning about the vineyard’s history, grape sources, and winemaking approach. The scenic property makes an appealing stop for couples, friends, groups, and travelers exploring Johnson City or the surrounding wine routes. Whether discovering a Texas-grown selection, purchasing bottles for home, or spending a quiet afternoon in the countryside, Texas Hills Vineyard provides a memorable experience centered on craftsmanship, regional character, and genuine Hill Country hospitality.
