Hamlet Vineyards

is a family-owned winery offering handcrafted wines, Southern hospitality, and peaceful countryside views in Bassett. Established in 2010, the vineyard occupies part of a 300-acre historic property near the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Owners Butch and Virginia Hamlet transformed their interest in winemaking into a welcoming destination that reflects the agricultural character and traditions of Southern Virginia.

The vineyard was initially planted with four classic Bordeaux grape varieties: Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. By partnering with respected winemaker Michael Shaps, the family creates wines designed to express the qualities of the estate’s fruit and regional growing conditions. Visitors can explore carefully produced selections while learning more about the vineyard’s development and winemaking philosophy.

Guests can enjoy tastings inside the comfortable tasting room, on the covered terrace, or among the vineyard surroundings. Additional spaces include a fire-pit garden and a hammock garden designed for quiet relaxation. Wine is available by the tasting, glass, or bottle, while sangria and nonalcoholic beverages provide further choices. With family heritage, estate-grown grapes, scenic grounds, and friendly service, Hamlet Vineyards offers a memorable Southern Virginia wine experience.
