Sassafras Shade Vineyard

is a small, family-owned and operated winery offering estate-grown wines and relaxed countryside hospitality. Located near Ruther Glen, just four miles west of Interstate 95 at the Ladysmith exit, the vineyard provides a convenient rural escape for travelers, couples, families, and friends exploring this part of Virginia.

The rustic tasting room opened in October 2014 and welcomes guests interested in discovering wines produced entirely on the property. Every grape is cultivated onsite, while all wines are also made and bottled at the vineyard. Visitors can explore a varied collection featuring Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Vidal Blanc, Cayuga White, and White Chambourcin. The winery also offers distinctive fruit-forward selections, including Granny Smith Apple and Old-Fashioned Apple wines, along with Caroline White and Caroline Red.
