Helltown Brewing

is an independent craft brewery founded in 2011 in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The brewery was established by Shawn Gentry and fellow homebrewers after they acquired a used 15-barrel brewing system and converted an old mechanic’s garage into their original production facility. Helltown Brewing takes its name from Mount Pleasant’s historical nickname associated with the Whiskey Rebellion and the area’s 15666 ZIP code.

Helltown Brewing focuses on producing both traditional and modern beers using quality malts and generous amounts of hops. Its selection has included hazy IPAs, session IPAs, American lagers, brown ales, porters, stouts, pilsners, Belgian-style beers, and tart fruit ales. Popular offerings include Buffy Hazy IPA, Mischievous Brown Ale, Hell’s Delight American Lager, Lilith’s Cherriot Cherry Tart Ale, and Hellfire Alchemist Baltic Porter.

The brewery has expanded beyond its original Mount Pleasant operation and now has multiple taprooms throughout southwestern Pennsylvania, including locations in Export, Butler, Houston, and Pittsburgh’s Strip District. Helltown Brewing also distributes its beers throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. Its taprooms provide welcoming spaces for guests to enjoy rotating beers, community events, and live entertainment.

With its rebellious personality, diverse beer program, long brewing history, and growing taproom presence, Helltown Brewing offers an enjoyable craft beer experience in southwestern Pennsylvania. Whether sampling a hop-forward IPA, crisp lager, traditional brown ale, or creative seasonal release, Helltown Brewing provides a worthwhile destination for visitors exploring the region’s independent brewery scene.
