Drowning Fish Brewing Company

was a craft brewery and brewpub in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, founded by longtime homebrewers Don Tomino and Mike Ameel. The two owners met through a local homebrew club and spent years developing their brewing skills before turning their passion into a professional brewery. Drowning Fish opened at 5454 Library Road in 2021, occupying the former Duke’s Station location.

Drowning Fish Brewing Company produced a wide variety of handcrafted beers, with a strong emphasis on traditional brewing styles. Its selection included IPAs, Belgian-style beers, fruited beers, wheat beers, and other rotating specialties. Beers such as Hazy New England IPA, Mango Magic, Yellow Snow, Bob’s Your Uncle, Makin’ Bacon, and Don’t Worry, Be Abbey! reflected the brewery’s creative approach and broad brewing interests.

The brewery operated a 10-hectoliter brewing system and featured a taproom with approximately 75 seats. Alongside its beer selection, Drowning Fish offered food including pizza and planned elevated pub fare such as gourmet paninis, smoked meats, bourbon buttermilk chicken, hand-cut fries, and desserts.

Although Drowning Fish Brewing Company is now permanently closed, it remains part of Bethel Park’s recent craft beer history. Its combination of experimental and traditional beers, locally rooted ownership, and neighborhood brewpub atmosphere made it a memorable addition to the Pittsburgh-area brewing scene.
