Liana Estates

Founded by sisters Lisa and Ariana Peju, Liana Estates was created as a second-generation family wine venture that built upon the legacy established by their parents, Tony and Herta Peju. Having grown up immersed in the wine industry, the sisters shared a vision of creating a modern winery experience that combined premium wines, hospitality, and a strong connection to the land. The winery’s name, “Liana,” was formed by combining portions of their first names, symbolizing both family heritage and a new generation’s approach to winemaking.

Established in 2016, Liana Estates focused on producing high-quality wines sourced from premium vineyard sites while offering a contemporary and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The winery quickly gained attention for its scenic property, thoughtfully designed tasting experiences, and commitment to creating an environment where guests could relax and enjoy wine in a casual yet refined setting. Outdoor spaces, vineyard views, and interactive experiences helped distinguish the winery from more traditional tasting rooms.

A defining characteristic of Liana Estates was its emphasis on hospitality and connection. Rather than focusing solely on wine tasting, the winery sought to create memorable experiences that encouraged visitors to spend time with family and friends while learning about wine. This philosophy reflected the Peju family’s longstanding belief that wine should be approachable, enjoyable, and shared with others.

The winery produced a portfolio of premium wines that reflected careful vineyard sourcing and attention to quality. The project represented a fresh chapter for the Peju family while maintaining the values of craftsmanship and hospitality that had guided them for decades.

In 2019, due to trademark considerations, the winery was renamed Calmére Estate Winery, though the vision and family leadership behind the project remained the same. Despite the name change, Liana Estates remains remembered as the original expression of Lisa and Ariana Peju’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to creating a modern wine country experience.
