Brookview Station Winery and Joe Daddy’s Hard Cider

grew from a long family tradition of fruit farming in Castleton-on-Hudson. Founded in 2006 by Sue Goold Miller and her husband, Ed Miller, the winery operated alongside Goold Orchards, an apple farm established by Sue’s grandparents in 1910. This orchard-to-glass connection gave the business a distinctive identity rooted in local agriculture and generations of family dedication.

The winery produced a varied collection of fruit and grape wines using ingredients grown on the property and sourced from New York farms. Its portfolio included white, red, rosé, and cordial-style wines, offering selections for both sweet and dry preferences. Joe Daddy’s Hard Cider added another dimension with refreshing apple-based beverages, including original and fruit-flavored varieties crafted from locally harvested apples.

For many years, visitors enjoyed tastings, seasonal orchard activities, private gatherings, and opportunities to learn about local wine and cider production. Although the tasting room is now closed, Brookview Station wines continue to be available through selected retailers across the Capital Region. The business remains remembered for combining family farming, creative beverages, and genuine countryside hospitality in one welcoming destination.
