Hudson-Chatham Winery

offers a distinctive Hudson Valley wine experience rooted in local agriculture, hybrid grape varieties, and family-operated hospitality. Founded in 2006 by Carlo and Dominique DeVito, the winery became Columbia County’s first commercial winery. The couple transformed part of a historic dairy farm in Ghent into a vineyard designed to take advantage of the property’s south-facing slopes, favorable soils, and regional growing conditions.

The winery is especially known for varieties that perform well in New York’s challenging climate. Estate plantings include Baco Noir, Seyval Blanc, Chambourcin, Chelois, DeChaunac, Burdin, and Le Colonel. This focus on hybrid grapes has helped demonstrate their ability to produce distinctive, balanced wines with genuine regional character.

Visitors can enjoy tastings in a welcoming setting while learning about the vineyard, grape varieties, and winemaking process. The tasting room also highlights regional products, supporting local artisans and agricultural producers. Hudson-Chatham sources fruit from several New York wine regions, including the Hudson Valley, Finger Lakes, and Long Island. With its sustainable approach, pioneering spirit, and dedication to New York-grown fruit, Hudson-Chatham Winery provides a memorable destination for visitors interested in authentic Hudson Valley wine.
