Chateau LaFayette Reneau

offers a scenic Finger Lakes wine experience shaped by estate vineyards, award-winning craftsmanship, and sweeping views of Seneca Lake. The winery began in 1985 when Dick and Betty Reno purchased a historic farm on the lake’s southeastern slopes. They replaced native grape varieties with premium vinifera vines, laying the foundation for a respected estate dedicated to producing expressive New York wines.

The vineyard benefits from Seneca Lake’s moderating influence, rolling slopes, and stony shale soils. Riesling and Chardonnay are important specialties, while red varieties include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. Tastings allow visitors to compare aromatic whites and full-bodied reds while learning how the property’s climate, soils, and careful vineyard management shape each bottle.

The tasting room occupies a beautifully restored century-old fruit-packing barn, creating a welcoming setting filled with history and character. Guests can enjoy estate-grown wines, admire vineyard and lake views, and relax in the peaceful surroundings. With its decorated Rieslings, longstanding winemaking tradition, and commitment to considerate hospitality, Chateau LaFayette Reneau provides a memorable destination for travelers exploring Seneca Lake wine country.
