Shaw Vineyard

offers a distinctive Finger Lakes wine experience shaped by decades of vineyard knowledge, patient winemaking, and a strong commitment to vinifera grapes. Winemaker Steve Shaw grew up in the region and drew inspiration from early Finger Lakes pioneers who helped establish European grape varieties in New York. In 1981, he planted his first vinifera vineyard when many local producers still focused mainly on native and hybrid grapes.

After working in a winemaking partnership during the 1990s, Steve purchased fifty acres near Seneca Lake in 1999 and established his own vineyard. The first vintage was produced in 2002, followed by construction of a post-and-beam tasting room, underground cellar, and production facility. Shaw Vineyard officially opened to visitors in 2007 and later expanded its winemaking facilities.

The winery is known for carefully produced wines that benefit from extended aging and a thoughtful, unhurried approach. Visitors can explore distinctive selections while learning about Steve’s long connection to Finger Lakes viticulture. Whether stopping for a tasting or discovering wines with mature character, guests can enjoy an authentic destination centered on experience, experimentation, and respect for the vineyard.
